Chobham St Lawrence Church tower appeal Saturday 21st January 2017

This Saturday Chobham First XV will be playing Dover RFC and  will be hoping to bounce back from their disappointing result at Cobham last week.

As usual lunch will be served before the match at 12.30 and it will also be our great pleasure to welcome Chris Beasant the vicar of Chobham St Lawrence Church as well as the officials from Dover.

You will all be familiar with the beautiful fifteenth century church and tower on the High Street which forms part of the beating heart of the village. As is common with many of these listed heritage buildings their upkeep is a constant struggle and Chobham St Lawrence is no different. Following an inspection in 2015 significant problems were identified with the fabric of the stonework and as a result the church council are planning to carry out repairs in 2018. They need to raise in the order of £200,000.

As a way of supporting their efforts the Club are hoping to raise some funds this Saturday to help with the restoration by way of a £1 contribution from the cost of the lunch, the usual  matchday aggregate score predictor and a raffle.

Please come along and cheer on the first team (kick off 2.00pm) but also to support our community efforts to raise some funds toward the restoration project.

Thanks
