Under 10’s tournament at Reeds, Weybridge

Players from all four Chobham teams collecting their trophy

A sunny day at Reeds was the setting for the under tens first chance to show their recently acquired rucking and mauling skills matching up against Cobham, Reeds, Twickenham and Wimbledon.

Chobham entered four teams, one in each of the four pools showing the strength in depth. With eight a side and just one sub for each of the Chobham teams the boys all saw plenty of action.

The A’s had a number of hard fought games and proved very hard to beat, recording three draws out of their four matches. The increased physicality this year took its toll on all of the teams in this group and the A’s were calling on Simon and Jonty to bolster their squad before the end.

The C’s got plenty of practice in the rucks and the mauls with Daniel always eager to get stuck in and protect the ball and Nick fearsome on the charge.

Both of the B teams maintained strong defences with high tackle counts against well organised opposition and Zach showing his prowess at ripping the ball from the opposition at will. When the two B teams met each other at the end of the tournament Archie ran in a hat trick against his Chobham team mates who struggled to get a hand to him as he danced through their defensive line.

The B team coached by Jonathan managed three wins out of four scoring the bonus point in each for registering four or more tries. They lost just one game to a strong Wimbledon side and won themselves medals for finishing top of their group.

The day ended with the four Chobham under 10 teams being awarded one of the trophies of the day for the enjoyment they displayed.
