Good afternoon and welcome to the new season here at Fowlers Wells from Ryan Gregory. Although it only feels like last week that I was thanking everyone for there unwavering support during the entire 2013/2014 season, it’s time to go again and I’m sure season 2014/2015 will prove to be just as entertaining, enthralling and down right unpredictable as the last.
Welcome also must go to our visitors this afternoon, Twickenham RFC. Having been promoted to London 1 from London 2 via the play off last season they really did arrive with a bang and a crash last week with their demolition of Cobham RFC in their opener, culminating in a very impressive 68-13 victory. Congratulations guys and welcome to the league, any team that puts Cobham so firmly in their place is always welcome here at Chobham!!!
Our start to the season last week was a far closer affair, but thankfully ended with 4 points and many positives to be taken from the game away at Havant. It really was a game of two halves, after taking a commanding lead in to half time, we completely took our foot off the gas in the second period, thankfully however we were able to hold out for the win, 25-22, and a valuable away win. We owed Havant having lost away there last season, so as I have said, lots of positives to be taken.
There was however many lessons to be learnt from last week and the squad have worked hard this week in order to prepare fully for this weeks massive test against the new boys.
The lads and I can’t wait to hear the cheers of the Chobham faithful again this afternoon and look forward to entertaining you with some fantastic rugby throughout the coming months.
